You are reading this blog post which means you have been there. You decided on a goal, started on the journey, put your blood and sweat into it, avoided what could and could not be avoided, and pulled all-nighters only to wake up one morning to feel deflated. The rush, the energy, the passion that was there yesterday is suddenly gone. Poof! You dare yourself to take a day break, rest, watch some TV, talk to your family and friends, go on a walk, sleep...in short, you try every tip and trick possible to get back on track.

But alas! You cannot. You are still mightily lost. Then begins the train of shame taking you to the junctions of embarrassment, self-loathing, lower confidence, and diminished passion.

Then what to do? Give up? No. As they say, there is always a silver lining which, in this situation, is that we ALL have been there.

But only a few of us can get back on the track. After a dull moment, only a few can inject themselves with renewed energy, passion, and creativity toward their goal.

If you do not like giving up no matter what, then this post is for a stubborn soul like you! I am sharing a powerful and EASY hack that will motivate you even on worse days.

Honestly speaking, I have used this hack myself and found myself returning to my goal with renewed vigor and dedication.

But first, let's understand why we fail.

WHY DO YOU FAIL TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF?

Motivation hack that works!

Goal setting is a skill. Not everybody can do effectively and yet many pick a goal and set out to achieve it. If you are only focused on the goal, then the bad news is that you will lose motivation on the way. One week you will feel on top of the world but the following week, you will start to feel a certain lethargy taking over. It is as if the devil himself has begun targeting you like a mountaineer targets the Himalayas.

The above example might be bad but it does make you think: When everything was alright, when I was full of energy and my eyes set on the goal, then what happened? What wrong did I do? Why do I lack motivation now? Is it because I have set a big goal that is unachievable? Do I not deserve the reward? Did I make a mistake setting this goal?

What went wrong??!!

One thing I need to clarify here first is that it is okay to lose motivation and that it is a natural process. Everyone goes through it. Any journey is full of regularities and irregularities. And the irregularities become higher if the goal is bigger.

In short, you did nothing wrong and you absolutely deserver your goal.

You just missed considering one crucial aspect: An action plan to complement your journey on days you will feel demotivated.

This is the difference between effective goal setters and regular goal setters. Everyone has a goal, but only a few set it in the right way. To achieve the goal, you must consider ALL aspects of the journey, including good days and bad days.

Hopefully, this hack will get you through those silly sickly bad days.

MOTIVATION HACK: THINK LIKE YOU ARE THE GOAL

Think like you are the goal

Let me ask you a question: How do you see yourself when you start towards your goal?

If your answer sounds like 'I feel like Point A who needs to get to Point B' or 'I am just starting. I have a long way to go', then you are on the right track. Everyone feels this way at the beginning.

You need to change your mindset only then when dark clouds begin hovering and you start losing sight of the goal. To motivate yourself, think like this instead - I am the goal.

What I mean by this is that when you begin to lose motivation, you also start losing sight of the reward. If the goal was 10 kilometers away earlier, now it seems 500 kilometers away; too big to get to it. Very easy for the mind to hide in its comfort zone and urge you to STOP and LET GO.

Let me tell you a psychological fact - Our brains are designed to ditch the work and stay in the comfort zone. if the brain realizes it has work to do, it begins finding ways to NOT do it. This specific brain function is also the top reason for procrastination which we will discuss in another post.

Now you know. When you feel demotivated, your brain stops assisting you too. In fact, it pulls you further away from the goal.

In this tricky case, tell your mind that you are the goal. Have it feel all those sensations, feelings, emotions, and beliefs as if you have achieved it in reality.

Another psychological brain fact dump - Our brains CANNOT differentiate between reality and powerful imagination.

When you become the goal in your head, your brain starts shifting gears. It feels everything - From the excitement of the triumph to the relief of ending the journey. The sense of accomplishment floods it instantly.

And right here you won the war with your brain. Once it is in this state, the earlier rush, the energy, and the higher vibration begin returning, zapping your veins with the electricity of a newly found motivation. I won't be wrong if I say that this new motivation might surpass the kind you had started your journey with.

How does that sound? Fantastic? Awesome? Hell yeah!?

This is known as the success mindset. Now let's make this hack even more effective. How? Read further to find out.

SUCCESS MINDSET FOR GOAL SETTING

Change your mindset to stay motivated

To deal with rain, you buy an umbrella. Rain does not have to be there, but an umbrella can save a rainy day.

Same way, use the motivation hack I just told you before you lose motivation.

This exercise will be akin to a warm-up. Once the mind is warmed up from the beginning, it has less chance of being struck by lightning and falling flat.

When you start your journey towards your goal, do not think you are Point A. Think of you as the Goal.

Let's get into an example. You want to get more customers every month. You want the number to go from 50 (Point A) to 500 (Point B). Now you have the goal. You are Point A.

Wrong!

You are Point B. Think as if you already have 500 customers per month purchasing your products and services. How will you behave as a successful business owner? How will you deal with current customers? What new offers, deals, or discounts you will need to consider? What customer retention strategies should come into focus? Which team member to praise and which one to work on? Which aspect of business needs more attention now that you have an increased number of customers? Where will you put the fresh stock?

Now change your thinking pattern. How will you feel? What kind of thoughts will raid your mind every morning you wake up? What will be the last thought before you hit the bed? How should you dress? How do you look? Appearance makes a difference, but it should not be given much credit in comparison to other attributes. Repeat and refine your WHY. What's next now?

When you are at Point B, you are already thinking of your next step, the next goal. That's how this hack works. It not only takes you to the current goal, it also encourages you to think BIGGER.

FINAL WORD

We all need motivation

We all have a dream life to aim for. Maybe some of us are living it already while some of us are chasing it. Either way, we need motivation to get to it and keep it. Motivation is one of the most powerful emotions. It helps us move forward, pulls us out of our comfort zones, makes us do things that we would not do, and paints the picture of a new desirable life...

In short, motivation is something that we need every single day.

That is why it is important to preserve it. This is the hack that I use. What hack do you use? Do not forget to tell me in the comments.
